Top: BugisVillage / Necklace: Topshop / Pants: Stylemint / Shoes: Charles&Keith

Hey guys! A short one today. This was a school outfit I wore previously, I thought it was pretty cute. The black/white houndstooth patterned top has a very chic, classic look to it, so I matched a comfortable, slouchy 'lounge pants'. Some days we just want to throw whatever's comfortable on and still look put together. And outfits like that are easy to match and great to pull off the relaxed style that is so trendy these days. Pants are from Stylemint, they are the Tribeca in Heather grey and the top is a shop from Bugis Street. Necklace is from Topshop also featured in my Topshop accessories haul here.

Topshop Accessories Haul | October (part 2)

Read Article →

Read my part 1 accessories haul here if you haven't already. Today I'm back with 3 more items from Topshop. In the previous post I included a photo of a necklace that I was looking for, lo & behold, I found it, and the best part is, I found it in the sale section. Double score!

I'll start off with the necklace, it has a really pretty colour combination of white and pale blue. And the details on it is amazing. I feel that this is a great piece to give any outfit an additional subtle glam. It is at the perfect length, not too short or too long, look amazing by itself or tucked under a collared shirt. On sale for S$19!

Since the BOGO sale was still on, I got myself a nice pair of earrings made from orange gemstones (S$9). These precious babies complement black hair and fair complexion really well and are a perfect wearable statement piece. I also bought a nice mint polka dot headband, it is made of really nice chiffon material and the ribbon portion of the headband has a wire embedded so you can twist the ribbon to different angles. It was also reduced to S$9.

I will be posting photos of me wearing all the accessories so stay tune to my monthly haul posts coming up in a few days, I will be 'modelling' all the pieces. If you are interested in any of the pieces, they are still available in stores!

Topshop Accessories Haul | October (part 1)

Read Article →

Hi guys! Topshop was again having their end-of-season freedom jewelry sale, so I got a few pieces from their accessories section. Topshop's jewelry always awes me, they have very unique, original designs so every girl will definitely find something they like. The buy-one-get-one promotion is still going on right now, so if you find any pieces you like in my post, you can always head down and grab one for yourself.

These pieces are amazingly versatile, I can see myself wearing them from casual outings to wedding dinners. And Topshop accessories have a ton of details which I freaking adore. My favourite piece out of the bunch is the necklace in the middle, I remembered seeing a local artiste wearing it and I thought to myself that I had to have that necklace. I also adore the cord and spike tribal collar necklace (left) and the metal rings gemstone tube necklace (right). They make plain, simple outfits pop.

The earrings would be perfect matched with a minimalistic long black dress and classy quilted clutch. Great for gatherings or events where you have to dress slightly classier.

I am actually looking for a piece (picture below), I was contemplating getting it before the sale, the original price was S$33 but I didn't get it in the end. Sadly, I couldn't find it during the sale so I was quite bumped. Maybe it wasn't included in the sale or perhaps it went oos. Anyways, isn't it gorgeous? I think it will look fantastic with like a cream cable knit jumper.

I will be going back a few days later to check out if they restocked the racks with any new pieces. I'll update you guys asap, cheers! x

Etude House Vivid Pop Stick #2 #3 #4

Read Article →

Hi guys! Previously I did a mini review on the Vivid Pop Stick #3, since I liked it so much, I went back and purchased 2 more shades. So I currently own 3 shades, namely #2 This Love, #3 Just Dance and #4 Pop Stick Baby. Etude House Vivid Pop Stick is a new lip colour range with 8 matte lip shades. With so many choices, you can definitely find something you like.

<Above> All product twisted up

L - R : #2 This Love, #3 Just Dance, #4 Pop Stick Baby

Pros:
Most departmental cosmetic brands such as Shu Uemura or Nars have a matte lipstick range, but if you are just trying out different lip colours and do not want to pay the hefty price of $30+ per tube, the Etude House Vivid Pop Stick is the one for you. It retails for S$14.90 per stick, and don't forget to check out their facebook page for any member discounts going on.

The colour and pigmentation is amazing, the colour pay off is exactly the same as swatch. Comes off creamy and opaque, I find that the lighter shade (#2) emphasizes dry patches more compared to the darker shades (#3 & #4) which goes on thick and creamy.

The Vivid Pop Stick leaves a stain so even after heavy meals, the colour will look almost untouched. But remember not to wipe your lips with a tissue as it will remove some of the lip colour off. Dab it on the lips for a more versatile, daily wearable look.

As always, Etude House always puts in effort in their packaging. The lip product comes in a crayon form that twists to expose more product. The packaging is very sturdy so I'm not afraid of the product breaking off. Lid snaps on well too.

Cons:
Matte lipsticks can be drying and the Vivid Pop Stick is no different. Whilst it doesn't make your lips look dry and flaky after applying, the product can dry out your lips especially if your lips are sensitive, in 4 hours of wearing. So layer a thin layer of lip balm over the lips to plump up any dry areas.

Condition the lips after wearing this lip product because it makes my lips peel for the next few days if I leave it alone. Use something thick and moisturizing like Vaseline to deeply hydrate the lips.

Yadda Yadda:
Will I repurchase it? Yes! If you are looking for an affordable matte lipstick, give the Vivid Pop Stick a try! I highly recommend trying out #3, it is a cool pinkish red shade that is very flattering on lighter skin tones. Hot pink is very popular this season, and the Vivid Pop Stick in #4 is a nice cool fuchsia hot pink. I think mixing a layer of #2 and topping it off with #4 will make the perfect wearable hot pink.

Price: 5/5
Product: 4/5
Packaging: 4/5
Lasting Power: 4/5
Overall rating: 4/5

#3 Just Dance is my ultimate favourite shade, it looks great on fair skinned girls. Which shade has caught your attention? Let me know in the comments below!

Hannah

Say Bye To Flat Hair, And Hi To Big Hair

Read Article →
I have very thin and straight hair. And that usually means that it lays flat on the scalp, and that, may not be the most attractive look especially with the ears peeking out ugh that drives me nuts.

Usually on the runway, there are tons of models with silky blonde hair that has perfect volume and texture. And although we may not be able to replicate the magic of the hands of hair stylists, we can still inject 'life' into our daily hairstyles by using drugstore hair products.

Below are three products designated to save flat, limp hair that I have tested out over the week.

Left - right : Lucidol Volume Airy Wax, Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray, Toni&Guy Volume Plumping Mousse

Lucidol Volume Airy Wax
This wax is awesome. The 'wax' has a soft, cream-like consistency and get tacky after rubbing between the fingers. It promises a strong hold (contains silica), is non-sticky and provides easy styling. It contains penetrating Hyaluronic Acid which is a moisturizing ingredient and has green floral scent.

Directions:
Spread small amount of wax onto fingertips and between fingers.
Style by lifting the sections where more volume is desired.
Replace cap after use.

Pros:
Inexpensive, a 20g mini container retails for only S$4.90 at Watsons and you get a ton of product.
Very easy application, hassle-free and great for on-the-go touch ups.
It gives great volume but leaves a sticky, rubbery grip feeling to the hair which is common for hair products containing silica.

Cons:
I encounter trouble capping the container at times.
Volume does not last all day, I find myself having to lift and scrunch hair from time to time.

I give Lucidol Volume Airy Wax lifting power a 4/5 stars!

Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray
We've heard our fair share of raves for sea salt sprays, it promises to give hair texture and body with light to medium hold achieving a lived in, beach look.

Directions:
Spritz evenly root to tip, on towel-dried or dry hair and work through to create tousled waves and natural movement.
For extra hold and texture, layer through dry hair and re-style with fingers.

Pros:
Does the job to achieving messy, tousled hair texture.
Fairly price, the 200ml bottle is priced at S$24.90 and the 75ml travel size bottle is around S$9.90 available at all Watsons and Guardian stores.
Has a nice fresh floral scent.

Cons:
If your hair is naturally straight, it may not create waves in the hair.
Does not provide much volume if you are looking to lift hair from roots.

Toni&Guy Volume Plumping Mousse
This product has mixed reviews online, T&G's website states that it is crafted with a root targeting nozzle to get body, bounce and movement where applied. Promises to add long-lasting body to limp hair without stickiness or build-up.

Directions:
Squeeze the desired amount into your hand and work through the length of the hair, combing through. Alternatively, spritz directly to the roots of  towel dried hair, section by section,  before heat styling. Spritz hair with heat  protecting mist before using mousse to protect  your hair against heat damage.

Pros:
The great thing is that all the product doesn't leave the hair greasy and volume lasts all day.Has a pleasant fresh after bath scent to it. .
Foam dispensed does not splatter or spill everywhere

Cons:
The residue from this product makes your hands very soapy. After massaging into the hair, I usually like to wash the excess product off my palms. Even with that, when I touch my hair in the middle of the day, some product adheres to my hand. And when my hand gets wet, it gets really soapy and annoying.

The lifting power is on the weaker side, so do not expect much volume using this product.
I usually use 1+  pump of foam, sometimes 2 pumps, I notice that if I use lesser product, I don't see any lifting effects. Add another volumnizing product to boost effectiveness. I highly recommend these 3 products combined together.

If these 3 products are still not able to satisfy your big hair needs, you can add Osis + DustIt Matifying Powder by Schwarzkopf into the regimen. This powder, when applied directly onto the roots, gives hair massive volume plus it absorbs oil making the scalp less greasy. Works great on second day hair as well.

Share with me your best volumnizing hair tips and tricks and I'll see you guys in my next post!

Love,
Hannah

H&M Shopping Haul | Part 2

Read Article →

Read part 1 of my shopping haul if you haven't already. So after a very fulfilling shopping trip to H&M last week, I went back again a few days later. I didn't get a ton of stuff since the sale racks still had more or less the same pieces. There were cute coats on clearance but I figured I wouldn't be able to wear them in Singapore and since I won't be going overseas anytime soon, I probably shouldn't get them. Big coats are especially in trend this fall/winter but they are practically useless in a humid tropical country. *insert sad face*

I got a super adorable polka dot jeans which were on sale for S$30. I saw them when they first came out, they were on the pricier side so I didn't think much of them. Since they are on sale now, I didn't hesitate to snatch them up before they were all gone.

From the tee-shirt section, I got a basic coral shirt, you can't go wrong with basics plus I love the colour. I also went ahead and get some hair clips and bobby pins. The big hair clips are very handy, great for sectioning the hair or just for getting them out of the face. I'll see you guys in my next post! Have a great week ahead!

Girl Crush | Alexa Chung

Read Article →

So as the title above says, I am having a major girl crush on Alexa Chung at the moment. I have been stalking her on tumblr, twitter and watching all her videos on Youtube. If you are unfamiliar with Alexa Chung, she debuted as a model when she was very young, and is now a tv presenter, fashion magazine editor and a fashion style icon. Her style is very androgynous, comfortable, effortless chic (the whole I-didn't-bother-but-ended-up-fabulous-anyway) and can we all agree that those tousled messy locks looks the best on her? Even her name looks pretty. Life is unfair!

Also, fact of the day, the Alexa bag from Mulberry was named after Alexa Chung. Now I have one more reason to buy a Mulberry Alexa. If I could have a designer bag named after me, I would literally die without regrets.

As they say, to know a girl better, we must first study her wardrobe. So let's take a look at Alexa Chung's closet shall we?

No one does street style like Alexa Chung. She adds a little masculinity to feminine outfits. And most importantly, she always look fresh and put together even after partying all night. Do you have any celebrity crushes? Let me know down in the comments below!

H&M Shopping Haul | Part 1

Read Article →

Hey guys! H&M starting their end-of-season sale last weekend so I got some interesting buys from them. I went back yesterday and got some more stuff from them so there will be a second part somewhere within the week. Prices of clothes in the sale section were slashed to less than 15 bucks so you could say that it was a frenzy in the store and I went completely nuts.

All items are from H&M. The belts are S$3, S$10 and S$5 respectively from left to right. I have seen the nude waistbelt and middle gold chain leather belt when they first came out. I wanted them so badly but couldn't justify the price and I can always wait till they go on sale during end-of-seasons. For the sale price, these are totally worth it.

I went ahead and got some basic which were also in the clearance section. I got a tank dress for S$5 and a tube skirt for S$3. They are great layering pieces for the cooler weathers.

In the clearance section my eagles eyes spotted these babies from afar, they are a pair of white flatforms sandals with a wooden design heel. They look freaking adorable and the best part of the deal? It was only S$15! They are comfortable and look mega chic with skinny jeans.

Check out part 2 here!

Beauty Haul | Toni&Guy, Lucidol, Etude House

Read Article →

Hey guys! So I rarely buy hair products, but I recently chopped off 5 inches of hair so I wanted to try out some new hair products. I was so sick of my extremely long (waist length) & flat hair, I wanted to add more volume and texture to my straight, boring locks. I am still not quite satisfied with my current hair length (slightly above boobs), I am thinking of going shorter, similar to Alexa Chung's hairstyle.

So anyways I bought 3 hair products specializing in giving hair more volume. My hair is naturally straight and flat, so I am always looking for volumnizing hair products. First product is the Lucidol-L Volume Airy Wax. It is a non-sticky, easy styling wax that contains light yet strong hold powder (silica). Lucidol-L Volume Airy Wax also comes in a bigger container, but I opted for the smaller, cuter bottle to try it out.

Second product is the Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray. I have read loads of reviews on these, they make the hair more tousled and messy, give them more texture. I have tried it on dry hair, it does leave a 'grip' in the hair, exactly what it feels like after a day at the beach or swimming in the pool.

Another hair product I got is also from Toni&Guy, it is their volume plumping mousse. It promises to give hair body, bounce and movement. The mousse smells really nice, it reminds me of my dad's deodorant which oodly I really like.

Stay tune for a review on them real soon!

Remember my post on Etude House's Vivid Pop Stick? I went back and got 2 more shades. Plus I bought an additional no.3 stick (my favourite) to giveaway to one of you guys! So stay tune for a giveaway pretty soon!

I got no.2 This Love and no.4 Pop Stick Baby. The description says that no.2 is a hot pink but in my opinion it is more of a wearable bright pink. No.4 is a fuchsia purple hot pink which is great for parties or tone down the colour by dabbing it slightly on the lips.

I freaking adore the Vivid Pop Sticks, their colour payoff is amazing. I love all three colours, I think that they are a must try if you are looking for bright lip colours. I will be doing a review/comparison for all three of them in the next two weeks. (Read review here!)

Aubrey

September Fashion Haul | Lovisa, Lowry's Farm, Bugis

Read Article →

Hi guys! So I got a ton of pieces this month, I think summer is a period where my shopping hormones rage, as well as my appetite sadly. Unfortunately, I didn't get anything online this month, I stopped by Bugis Village this month, a place that I haven't step foot in for about a year. It is definitely a wallet friendly shopping heaven galore, everything is super cheap and I found so many great pieces for  less than 20 bucks. So I would totally recommend check BugisV out if you are new to Singapore.

I am obsessed with maxi dresses lately, maybe I have been stalking London Fashion Week too much, hmm. Anywhozzles I got 3 dresses this month, first piece is a 2pc grey maxi, it was S$15 from BugisV 3rd Level and don't be fooled by the price, it has amazing quality.

And it has a story behind it, I was watching Gag Concert one day, a Korean entertainment show, and saw this gorgeous dress this lady was wearing and surprise surprise, a miracle happened and I found it for 15 bucks a week later. I had a mini spazz attack then.

From Lowry's Farm, I got a printed tee-shirt dress made of really soft chiffon material. The length is on the shorter side so it doesn't look like a pajama dress. I have been looking for chiffon tee-shirt dresses for ages and this is perfectly what I imagined. I can wear it as a top or on its own. Also featured in my outfit post here. It was S$39.90.

I also got a very sheer yellow maxi dress, great for beach dates, outings just chilling in general during those hot summer days. The quality is amaze-balls again for the low price and it fits me so well. With a belt, a small crossbody bag and a beach hat, anyone can be the belle of the ball. S$18 from NaNaRoom, Bugis Level 1.

2 basic tops also from BugisV, left is a black, white plait top and the right one is a simple stripe tee-shirt. Both are made from polyester material so they are very breezy and lightweight. Left was S$10 and the right one was S$15.

Everyone needs basics whichever country you live in, and I find it legit hard to find good basics that lasts many washes. I found a cute crop top that fits perfectly on me, not too short or long, randomly at a shop in Jurong Point for S$10. And from BugisV some shop on Level 2, I got a basic white tank top to wear as a underdress for sheer dresses. Also 10 bucks. The quality feels very nice so hopefully I will get more wear out of them.

Palazzo pants are one of those late 60s - early 70s trend that has been brought back from the past adding a modern touch to it. I love the white and navy stripes, they really pop and they look nice flowy from afar.

I love everything with waistband, especially on lazy days where you don't want to dress up, waistband shorts are the comfiest bottoms to wear. And I am so in love with cobalt blue-everything especially matched with white, it brightens up even gloomy mondays.

From Lovisa I got this amazing, unique necklace made from bronze horse pendants. This is definitely one of my best buys this month! It was on sale for S$9. Check out here to see more close-ups.

I adore collar necklaces, and this totally fits my bill. It looks amazing with the hair up in a bun, matched with a plain oversized tee to glam out the look. Or even over a dress to look even more sassy. Reduced to S$15 from original S$50.

A necklace made from pastel blue glass beads, intertwined with silver metal wire. I bought this for a pastel themed party a month ago and I absolutely love how it looks with basic dresses. Also S$15 from Lovisa. Check out here to see more close-ups.

I don't have a ton of clutches, mainly because I love big bags. I am the girl who carries a Doraemon pocket with me everywhere I go, from chocolates to bookmarks, I can just pull them right out of my bag. I finally found a good size clutch for my needs, it is a yellow clutch from Lowry's Farm. I feel that it can be doubled up as a laptop case but there is not much cushion for protection. The clutch looks mustard in the pictures, but in real life it looks more true yellow. Reduced from S$72.90 to S$34.90.

That is all guys! Let me know which pieces are your favourite and I will see you in my next post! I believe that most items are still in stores so check them out if you are interested. Leave a comment down below if you have any questions or feel free to email me at aubreycricket@hotmail.com. Cheers!
