Apple Ipod Nano 1st generation Replacement Program

Read Article →

Have you guys heard of the Ipod Nano 1st generation replacement program? I recently received an email from Apple saying that the batteries of first gen Ipod Nano are defective and are hazardous so they are offering free replacements for all the Ipod Nano.

I happen to have a 1st gen Ipod Nano that I don’t use anymore because of the battery problem and was bought during 2005 so I am eligible for the replacement program! I went to Wheelock place a few days ago to EService to have my ipod replaced. The lady told me they will call me back 6 weeks later to collect my new ipod.

So this post is dedicated to my Ipod Nano which I will be missing. I’ll update you guys on the process!

Sorry for missing in action for so long! My exams are coming so please bear with me. I do have some interesting upcoming post so do stay with me!

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

Review for Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

Hey hey! Today I’ll be reviewing the popular moisturizer highly recommended by all dermatologists which is the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. You guys know that I am a slave for my Holy Grail Jorubi Aloe Vera Gel, so is it a hit or a miss product for me? Read on to find out!

I bought the fragrance free moisturizer for chronic dry, sensitive skin. You guys must be thinking ‘Don’t you have combination skin?’ Why yes I do, but I remember watching one of a video of Juicystar07 and she was talking about how using a moisturizer for oily skin may end up dehydrating the skin and end up producing more oil. Even oily skin should be provided with as much moisture as possible. I thought that was very true and so I almost never get skincare products for oily/combo skin nowadays.

Moisturizing Lotion specifically formulated to soothe chronically dry skin. Non-comedogenic Cetaphil® Moisturizing Lotion has a non-greasy formulation that is mild, non-irritating and long lasting. This gentle moisturizing formula contains emollients and humectants that bind moisture to the skin. This fragrance-free moisturizer contains no lanolins or parabens.

Pros:

The moisturizer is extremely hydrating. The texture is horrendously thick so I was really worried that it will clog my pores but luckily it really doesn’t. It is fragrance free but it has a chemical smell to it. I would recommend using this product during the colder days when the skin is drier.

Cetaphil is a brand really popular among dermatologists so I thought you can’t really go wrong with it right? It does what it promises and does not irritate the skin at all. I would say there is a purging period when using this product, for about 3-4 days little bumps may form which might be mistaken as clogged pores but it will go away after a week.

I found out that my Jorubi Aloe Vera Gel was not providing enough moisture for my face as I’m using harsh acne treatments (I will be doing a skin care routine soon so do stay tune) so I mix 1:1 portion of Cetaphil Moisturizer to Jorubi Aloe Vera Gel to achieve the best of both worlds

One bottle takes forever to finish because you really only need a little pea size.

Cons:

Extremely thick consistency, I cannot stress this enough. I been warned by so many reviewers about the thick texture and I thought it couldn’t be that bad. And I was WRONG! The moisturizer is definitely the thickest I’ve ever seen in any product. And I agree with other reviewers that this does leave a film on the face (not all gets absorbed) and makes it look greasy so if you have really oily skin, use only at night.

I’m almost in an air-conditioned space more than half of the day and I find that the Cetaphil moisturizer does give enough hydration for my skin. I have combination skin and I use it every morning and night.

The product comes in a squeeze bottle with a medium size opening and I find little control over the amount of product discharging. I always end up squeezing too much product out.

Yadda Yadda:

I paid around SGD$19 for the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion (I can’t really remember but it is around that price). Net Weight 200ml. Will I repurchase? Yes, I love the hydrating factor despite the heaviness. I do recommend trying this moisturizer out if you have acne prone or sensitive skin. Do you guys have any good moisturizer to recommend?

China Glaze CG In The City

Review for China Glaze CG In The City

2 posts in a day?! Say WHUUUT! Hey guys! Back for another review! This post will be on China Glaze CG In The City which I recently got my hands on. This nail polish has gotta be in my top ten favourite nail polishes at all times. It is a glittery nail polish with tiny purple, silver and rust glitters. It is an amazing nail polish on its own or over an opaque shade. Check out my previous haul where I feature this polish here. I saw a photo on Google top searches with CG In The City over Urban Night and it is AMAZING. Therefore Urban Night by China Glaze will definitely be in my next polish purchase.

Pictures below are just 3 coats of CG In The City and of course a clear base coat and top coat. Please note that I am not a professional at applying nail polishes so please forgive any mistakes.

Pros:

The colour is phenomenal!! The glitters are soooo pretty! I got so many compliments when I wore this on my nails last week.

It is really easy to apply, the texture and consistency of the glitter polish is great. Another benefit when using this polish is that errors are very forgiving compared to cream polishes.

Cons:

I wish the colour would appear exactly the same on the nails as it appears in the bottle but it is a tad lighter on the nails. Using a dark purple shade under CG In The City will definitely bring out the glitters more.

If you are using CG In The City as the only shade, you will need at least 3 coats for a semi-opaque colour.
You can actually feel the rough glitters on the nails, therefore be careful before scratching the face as it feels similar to sand paper

It began chipping after a week which is not that bad comparing with other nail polishes. The beauty of the glitters overweighs the lasting power so it doesn’t really matter that much to me.

Yadda Yadda:

I got this online through a friend of mine. I paid around SGD$7 for this nail polish. Will I repurchase? Definitely! I highly recommend everyone to check this polish out! What are your favourite nail polishes? Do recommend me!

Haul: Stridex, China Glaze, OPI, Majolica Majorca, KATE

Read Article →
Hey everyone! I got a few items over these few days and I thought that I would show it with you guys. There are not a lot of items so i’ll try to keep the post short.

Firstly this is an item I got off drugstore.com. I was looking for acne combating products that was not a cleanser, toner or moisturizer. I know right…huh? I chance upon this product that is said to be really popular in the states but cannot be found in Asia. I did a little research and these little cleansing wipes has extremely positive remarks. So I bought it! And the product is really cheap too, cost around US$4. I’m currently still trying it out and will write a detailed review some time soon.

I also got 2 nail polishes. I was pondering really long which polishes I would get because I wanted something different from my regular neutral shades. I got China Glaze’s CG In The City because it is such a beautiful glittery purple, it is absolutely stunning. Looking at the glitters in the bottle makes me feel like I’m gazing into the universe. Super pretty! My photos definitely don’t do it any justice because I do not have a professional camera.

Another OPI to my nail polish collection is Suzi Says Fengshui. It is a beautiful true blue and as all OPI nail polishes goes, the texture is really nice.

Watsons was having a member sale yesterday and oh my god the amount of people was horrendous. I kept walking round and round but there wasn’t anything that I really wanted to purchase. I ended up purchasing only2 items, a Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner (Liquid liner) and Kate Eyeliner brush which is my favourite eyeliner brush for gel liners.

The Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner was on sale for SGD$10 off the original price which was SGD$22.90. It was quite a steal for a Majolica Majorca product since most of their products are pretty costly. My friend uses this for years and she swears by it so I’ll do a review once I try out the product.

Holidays are coming up and I LOVE Christmas. All the lightings, the candy canes and Christmas trees, the joyous music filling the air, I love it soo much! So I hope you all have a great holiday! Stay beautiful!

Haul! Forever21, Newlook, ASOS November 2011

Haul! Forever21, Newlook, ASOS November 2011

Hey guys, this is my monthly haul post which I showcase my loots I got for the whole month of November. Read my previous September post here! As always I will leave the links for all items under their description. Please note that some items are definitely out of stock since I ordered them last month (orders usually take 3 or 4 weeks to arrive) but majority of them should still be available. All the items are from Forever21Newlook and ASOS.

Sorry for not posting in 2 weeks, it has been hectic beyond words, trying to adapt with new people and all so it hasn’t been easy. I’ll definitely make it up to you guys in this post so let’s get into it!

This is all the items I got during this month!

Birdcage Slub Top (Forever21, US$15.80)

I was definitely impressed by the quality of this top. The details couldn’t be seen in the website’s pictures so I kinda thought it was just plain o’ cotton. But the fabric feels really smooth and durable so I am very happy with my purchase. There were only Large sizes left when I bought it, and I like how it looked all baggy and slouchy on the model so I went ahead and got it anyway. It is a little large on me but its fine. The birdcage details are super adorable!

Birdcage Slub Top is out of stock

Flared Sleeve Georgette Top (Newlook, £6)

This top is such a steal, I got it on the site’s sale section for only £6! Equivalent to SGD$12! The quality is amazing, the cutting is top-notch, looks really expensive (it is actually, original price £24.99), it is just wonderful. The only problem with this is the colour, it looks really pink on the website but it is more of a mauve colour. My camera is picking it up more red, but it is definitely more towards mauve. It is still a pretty colour nonetheless. I ordered it in UK10 and it is a little big on me, I should’ve ordered a size smaller. The ruffles are made so beautifully.

Knit Top Sslv in Rust (Forever21, SGD$25)

I got this when I went shopping at forever21. I fell in love with the fabric instantly. It is not cotton or knit, the texture feels like velvet. Extremely soft and comfortable. The top ends a little short so I consider it a semi-crop. I got it in Medium.

Ripped Rosebud Top (Forever21, US$10.80)

I got this when forever21.com was having a sale for this particular top. Original price was US$12.80 and I got it for 10.80. I think the top looked cute and the little rose patterns were adorable too. I find the top too ripped though. I know the name already states that it is a ripped top but the extent of the rip was too much. It almost looked like someone tore the shirt. I have long nails and they kept getting caught in the loose fabrics. I got this top in Large.

Basic Knit Tank (forever21, US$2.80 ea)

I was on a lookout for good quality basic spaghetti tops and they were so affordable, I didn’t think twice to get them. I got them in medium because I was worried that they will be too tight on the waist and if I got small and the straps will be too long if I got large. They were REALLY tight around the waist, but the tops are stretchy so there is some leniency there. The straps are a good length and the quality is decent so I do recommend them.

Striped 3/4 Slv Dress  (Forever21, US$11.50)

This dress looked super cute on the model and it was really cheap. It fits around the body nicely, not too loose or not too tight. The quality of the fabric is a little disappointing. The cotton feels really cheap but for the price, I guess it is justifiable. It ends around mid-thighs, looked absurdly long in my photo. This piece is sold out.

Striped 3/4 Slv Dress is out of stock

Accessories

ASOS Bridge Detail Cats Eye Sunglasses in the style of Lauren Conrad (Asos, £12.)

 Left sticker

This is definitely a splurge item. It looked so good on Lauren Conrad so I thought I would get it. I’m kind of on a spectacle craze recently, be it sunglasses or geek specs, I want them all. This looked really good! I really like how they suit my face and the oversize design. The sunglasses looked exactly the same as the pictures. Okay, now onto the bad stuff, it feels pretty cheap. The frame and what do you call that….um…sides (?) are made of plastic and it feels really light. I usually like my sunglasses to have some weight. There is also a distinct 'Made in China' label printed right on one side which i dislike. Oh! And the frames leave fingerprints too. Other than that, it is a fabulous buy.

River Island Sienna Brown Trim Gold Sunglasses (Asos, £6.50)

River Island imprint on side

Labels still intact

Right sticker

I do not like how it fits my face. I much prefer the Asos sunglasses over this. I got this on sale for only £6.50 so it was definitely a steal. It feels extremely expensive and the original price is £12.99. The sunglasses have a good weight to them and it feels really durable. Fingerprints do not leave obvious marks too. I’m Asian and I do not have a high nose bridge. The glasses do not lie on my nose bridge as comfortably as the Asos one. This piece is sold out.

 That's all!

A/N: Okay, so that’s all with my loots for the month! And I want to thank all my readers for supporting me, my view counts has been increasing even though I am not posting every other day. It means a lot to me and I will definitely keep up with the postings so stay tune!

Clothes Buffet Victoria Jomo Fit All You Can 2 Review

Read Article →
Hey guys! Just wanna update you guys about my virgin trip to a clothes buffet event held by Victoria Jomo and my overall experience. For those who do not know what a Clothes Buffet is, you buy a bag, either SGD$35 (smaller bag) or SGD$55 (bigger bag), and you enter the shop and everything you managed to fit into the bag is considered yours. There are still rules though, you must be able to zip the bag up when exiting if not one piece of clothing must be taken out if the bag cannot be zipped and if the bag is ripped or damaged, you are disqualified and asked to leave.

I would say it was a really risky experience, because I am unfamiliar with Victoria Jomo and I wasn’t sure about the types of clothes available and the size of the bag. I was afraid that the clothes offered were very kid-dish or bad quality. I was pretty impressed by the quality of the ziplock bag provided.

I got the smaller bag because I didn’t want to waste 55 bucks on clothes that I might never even wear. When I got there with my friends, the infamous queue wasn’t as bad as I thought. The front counter people weren’t very friendly, but that’s fine with me. The weather was hot, people were sweaty, I can see why they weren’t in a good mood, right?

We were led to the second floor, okay yelled at, because my friend wanted to go to the first floor initially. The shop person was all ‘No! Second floor!’ and I was like okay, okay geez! First look, I’m disappointed. The clothes were definitely not my style. If you like clothes at Topshop, H&M, Newlook, F21, I do not recommend going to such events.  Little details with excessive patterns. The clothes there were very ‘blogshop’. That is probably the only word I can describe. The quality is pretty decent I would say. There are definitely some good ones which sadly I didn’t get to see.

There were dresses, tops, belts, jackets, bags (can’t fit in $35 bag), wallets and shoes (only saw a pair).

There were around 6/7 store helpers in the shop deeply lack of space and a lady kept yelling incoherent warnings that I didn’t pay much attention to since we were all busy stuffing clothes into our bag. The atmosphere wasn’t pleasant AT ALL. Everybody was in a hurry, squeezing clothes randomly, digging clothes, sweating buckets, you name it.

I watched Victoria Jomo’s clothes buffet teaser video recommended by my friend where they showcased some of the clothes available during the event, kind of a preview, and disappointingly only a few of those clothes were available during my time slot.

A good thing was that after the 20 minutes was up, they didn’t force us to leave but waited for us to zip our bags up, which I was grateful for since it was a pain in the butt to zip the filled bag.

Okay below is what I got for SGD$35, I’m not really sure if it is worth it or not, I think that it is really the experience that counts.

All my loots!

Size of bag

With palm comparison

Super cute knit cardigan that i just HAD to get! It occupied alot of space though and I found a similar one on Gmarket :(

The hole of the button was badly done, as shown in the picture below.

The t-shirt was definitely a last minute grab. My bag wasn't filled (like to the brim) so my friend told me to quickly grab one more item and so this was the shirt I grabbed.

I love the colourful tribal detailing

I don't usually wear maxi dresses, i'm more of a shorts girl and this is definitely not a kind I would purchase too. I'm not even sure if i would wear this out. Maybe i'll bring it when i'm going to a beach resort or something.

Oh! And i did not fit this into my bag, my friend had an empty space and she helped me stuffed this into her bag.

Rubber lining around waist area

Inner lining

Outer sheer chiffon layer

That's all! Overall I think that I should be treated better as a customer patronizing the event. To me it seems like I was treated as a cheapskate just trying to grab some ‘quality’ clothes. I was rushed, yelled at when I paid 35 bucks (SO glad I didn’t pay $55). Is there a second time? A definite NO. I was deeply disappointed by the standard of products and service.

In Singapore, service is gold. You ain’t getting my cash if you ain’t treating me well, yea?

Service: 2/5
Product design: 4/5
Product quality: 4.5/5 (pretty decent)

Please do take my review as a pinch of salt; this is truthfully what I experience during the event. I’m really interested of your thoughts about such kind of event and experiences, do tell me in the comments below!

I will NOT recommend to people who :

-Dislike impulse purchasing
- Dislikes queuing
- Preferring quality > quantity
-Shopping in a squeezy area
- Prefers a large variety of clothes to choose from
-Do not like to be rushed

I will recommend to people who :
-Are on a budget
-Quality is not an important factor
-Fond of items sold on Blogshops
-Are not afraid of impulse purchasing
