Just In | Lambretta Franco Steel Mesh Watch

Read Article →

Hi guys! My Lambretta watch just arrived today! It was A LOT bigger than I expected that's what she said. The face of the watch is almost the width of my wrist. I asked my mum what she thought about the watch, if it was too big for me and she said it looked really nice.

She said although the watch is big, the design is very minimalistic so it really balances the oversized appearance. I do need to get the length altered though which would probably cost me another $10-$15.

I also love how the box carries the exact size and design of the watch!

Lambretta watches can be purchased here directly from the website. I bought it from Reebonz during an event for around $80. Watch design is the Franco steel mesh.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I am trying to get back into blogging more regularly but its hard finding exciting content to blog on. Let me know in the comments section below what you would like to see on this blog! I'll try my best so please stay tune for more cool stuff coming up!

Review | Tanda Zap Acne Clearing Device

Read Article →

Hi guys! Today's post will be a review on the Tanda Zap that I got slightly more than a month ago. I got this from Amazon (click here), I don't think you can buy this here physically in Singapore. Some sources says that Sephora sells them but is much more expensive compared to buying them online.

What it is: A pocket-sized beauty tool that clears acne blemishes fast.
What it does: Zap is the triple threat for pimples: it uses powerful blue light to destroy acne-causing bacteria while subtle vibration and gentle warming help to open pores so bacteria is exposed to the zit-zapping light.

What else you need to know: The Tanda Zap remains fully effective for 1,000 uses, 10-times more than any other zit zapper. Safe for all skin types and tones, it causes no dryness or irritation. Clinically proven to clear or fade blemishes within 24 hours.

I was considering 2 devices before deciding on the Tanda Zap. The first option I had in mind was the Zeno Hot Spot Blemish Clearing Device which costs US$30-$40 but only has 80 counts (80 uses). So the obvious winner is the Tanda Zap which is around US$40-$49 but has 1000 counts! (1000 uses)

Pros:
The treatment area is large, unlike the Zeno Hot Spot which concentrates on only one small blemish area, you get a wider effective area with the Tanda. There are total of 7 bulbs.

There are 3 AAA batteries provided with every unit purchased.

There is no pain at all, the bulbs do get a little heated up if you use it continuously for at least 4-5 times but I would not consider that anywhere near painful.

Since the treatment area is larger, definitely the battery is going to die faster. My first set of batteries that came together with the product lasted me over a month of daily 'spammage' as I like to call it. I am pleasantly surprised considering how much negative reviews there are over the poor battery life. The switch will flicker red when the battery is dying and I counted 4.5 more uses until the batteries finally died.
The device did not cause any irritation to my skin.

Cons:
After using all 1000 counts, you have to purchase a completely new unit, there is no replacement cartridge unlike the Zeno Hot Spot where cartridges are available. But you really can't beat the price of the Tanda Zap.

Because the device vibrates when switched on, it does produce a buzzing sound. The sound is equivalent to a vibrating mobile phone.
It can be troublesome/time consuming holding up the device for 2 mins especially if you have multiple acne areas to zap.

Did It Work?
I think it is more effective on bigger painful pimples & pus-filled zits rather than on smaller bumps. I currently have 2 medium sized painful bumps and I find that I worked really well on them. The zits are smaller in size, less painful and feel dry. Note that the process took around 3 days.  I do find the device effective but not as fast as it promises

Sounds gross but zits ripe faster using the Tanda Zap! If you feel a bump coming up, use it immediately and it will reduce the redness and inflammation. I initially took before and after pictures to show the effects of using it, but since the haze has messed up my skin, the after pictures in fact look even worse than before so I decided not to include them.

Yadda Yadda:
Will I repurchase?  Yes! If you have stubborn acne and nothing seems to work for you, give this a try! Do not expect instant or overnight results.

Price: 5/5 (cheap compared to other acne clearing devices)
Packaging: 5/5 (small and handy)
Effectiveness: 3/5 (no instant results, time consuming)
Overall rating: 4/5

Fashion Inspiration | Oversized Denim Jackets

Read Article →
Hi guys, if you haven't read my 'how to get the perfect oversized denim jacket' post, please click here. This post will be on fashion inspirations on pairing your oversized denim jackets. Brought back from the 90s, the oversized denim jacket is the trend right now. Below are some ideas that you can use to style your very basic oversized denim jackets.

I was actually inspired by this picture to purchase my denim jacket. I LOVE the whole 'model-day off' look though I look nothing like a model but I love the casual yet chic look of it.

I am a huge fan of mind the mustard! You guys should check out her blog store (http://mindthemustard.com/) if you are looking for vintage denim jackets. I love her fashion style, and how she dresses the jackets.

I got this picture from Chictopia. I love pairing the jacket with high waist shorts and black stocking. I love the contrast of the long denim jacket and sexy long legs.

I really love how the Japanese are able to pull these looks off. This isn't the craziest but trust me, there are tons more on the Tokyofashion website so check it out if you are interested in Japan fashion.

Tie-dye denims are such a huge trend this season. They are a slightly different take on the traditional denim jackets, adding a cute pop of colour to any outfit.

It is amazing how chic Indian Rose dresses her oversized denim. With a simple dark grey hoodie, the outfit looks very sport casual which is so trendy right now!

I hope this post will give you guys more inspirations into pairing your oversized denim jacket or even to get your own. I'll see you guys in the next post! Cheers!

How to get the perfect oversized denim jacket

Read Article →

Hi guys! This post will be on how to get the perfect oversized denim jacket. I know many ladies including myself who have trouble finding nice denim jackets that fit the way we want. Especially here in Singapore, oversized denim jackets are almost never seen in stores or ridiculously overpriced. So I stand by the quote 'if you can't find one, you make one'!

 Before

The sleeves were too long, so I had to fold up the cuffs 4 times resulting in very thick cuffs. The length was too long for my preference.

.
 .
 After
Length of jacket is fixed to a slight cropped design. Length of sleeves is also shortened so I only need to fold once or twice for a neat, casual look.

.
 .
My inspirational picture!

Things I find for in oversized denim jackets:

1) Material must be soft
If the denim is too hard, it will make the body appear bigger because of its boxy shape. Find one that has a thinner material than denim jackets you would find in Forever21. Remember that a denim shirt is different from a denim jacket.

 2) The shoulder lines on jacket must be at least an inch away from shoulders.
This really makes the denim jacket look oversized. If the shoulder lines are too close to your shoulders it will make the shoulders appear wider that it actually is.

3) Find one that has a cropped length
I really like oversized denim jackets that is slightly cropped.  It doesn't weigh down the look making the denim jacket look too overpowering. If you can't find one that has a cropped length, just alter it!

4) Cheap!
Since there may be some altering to do, you might want to find a cheap denim jacket. Try thrifts stores or even your dad's wardrobe of unwanted clothes! So if it gets messed up during altering, at least you wouldn't feel the pinch. Or if you have a nice denim jacket that is too big for you and you still want to make it work which was what I did.

Below are the ways I did to get my oversized denim jacket to work for me.

The total costs came up to $20 for altering and £15 for the denim jacket.

River Island denim jacket size XXL from Men section.

.
 .
I shortened the sleeves 11 inches (ask the tailor to retain the cuffs of the sleeves)

.
 .
I shortened the length of the jacket by 1 button spacing. (retain original jacket edge as well). There were pockets in the way so I had to get it chopped off.

I don't consider this a DIY post since I didn't really do any sewing at all, I regard this post as like a fashion inspiration for transforming old clothes, if you have some clothes that can be resurrected from the wasteland of old clothes you know you have it, then do it!

I really really like the results and how my jacket turned out. A big thanks to my tailor, she is amazing and you can't tell that my jacket is altered unless you look really closely at the pockets.

If you have been looking for an oversized denim jacket but haven't found one, this may be a little guide for you to make your own! I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I'll see you guys in my next one! Cheers :)

Let me know in the comments below 'what are your fashion woes?' Mine would definitely be finding the right denim jacket that doesn't emphasize my broad shoulders!

Hannah

MAC brush cleanser review + How I spot clean brushes

Read Article →

Hi guys! I'm sure you folks living in Singapore have experienced the matter which has erupted over our island in the past few days. This issue which has been causing all sorts of illnesses to emerge is none other than the haze. I believe the haze was caused by forest fires in Indonesia and it is the worst haze Singapore has experienced in 16 years, reaching the dangerous level of PSI 200.

*Edit: The PSI has hit an all time high at 371! My skin has been so dry lately. Please drink lots of water and moisturize well :D

People exposed to high levels of haze, or breathing in toxic fumes for long periods will experience sore throats, headaches, breathlessness and is very dangerous for people with respiratory conditions (e.g. asthma) and young children. And for vain girls like me, the haze is having adverse effects on the skin. Zits have been popping out in areas that I usually do not get acne sigh

So other than staying indoors and keeping the face clean, the one important factor that most people disregard, is cleaning of the makeup brushes. Dust and dirt from the haze can be transferred from the brushes onto the skin. Ever since a new MAC counter launched 2 bus stops away from my house, I've been really tempted to spend all my savings on beauty products. Not to say that there is also a Bobbi Brown counter and Sephora nearby.

I got a brush cleanser from MAC which I have no idea why I didn't get it sooner because this is definitely one of the beauty staples everyone needs. It costs S$21 for a 235ml bottle of brush cleanser and is available at all MAC outlets.

It is included in the Back To Mac (B2M) scheme so if you collect 6 empty MAC bottles/containers, you can exchange them for a MAC lipstick!

 .
 .
So how I spot clean my brushes, I pour some of the cleanser onto a paper towel. Then I just swipe my brushes in horizontal, vertical and circular motions to really get into all the areas of the brush. This is especially important for very dense brushes, you want to make sure that all the bristles of the brushes are cleaned. I do that continuously until there is no more colour rubbing off onto the paper towel.

Missha foundation/concealer brush

 .
 .

I tried it on my trusty EcoTools retractable kabuki brush which I use almost everyday...

Yikes!

Pros:
1) Does the job well
2) Quick and easy to use
3) Mess free
4) Accessible, available at all MAC outlets
5) Does not contain fragrance

Cons:
1)  May be expensive for such a small bottle
2) The cap leaks so always position if vertically and not horizontally

Final verdict: I highly recommend this brush cleanser if you are looking for a high quality brush cleanser that does not only clean but also conditions the brush bristles.

So that's all for today's post, I hope you guys enjoyed it! And for those experiencing the haze, remember to drink lots of water and rest well!

Just In | New Balance Shoes + exercising

Read Article →

*Picture taken from iPhone5. Location: MacRitchie Reservoir

Hi guys! I haven't posted in 4 days?! It just felt like yesterday since I last posted. The past week has been really crazy so I took a short little break from blogging. My body felt really lethargic these days so I wanted to get into an exercise regime. I got a pair of new balance running shoes from an outlet store a few days ago. I really like the hot pink on black and how the design slims the feet. I've tried many running shoes that makes the feet look 2 times bigger and bulkier and of course I did not like it at all.

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't exercise at all, I am very bad at sports. My body doesn't have enough stamina to run for a long period of time and it has been like that since young. I'm sure some I am not alone in this. However there are so many benefits to exercising. It keeps depression at bay because the body produces endorphins while exercising and the skin retains its youth. Of course the body feels less fatigue and have more energy to accomplish challenging tasks. I feel more alert after exercising too!

I am starting small by exercising once a week for an hour. I am definitely just quick walking, my body is in no condition of doing any intensive running activities because my body is still getting accustomed to exercising.

So join me in my journey of getting a health and strong body! I'll see you guys in my next post! Cheers :D

A day at the beach | Outfit + What's in my makeup bag (Summer edition)

Read Article →
This picture is taken by yours truly using the Panorama effect. Click on the picture to see the full size! Pretty sweet right?

Top: H&M /  Bottoms: Zara / Sunglasses: Charles & Keith

I went to a beach outing a few days ago. I always like to wear something over my bikini that is see-through so it gives a little sexiness yet not too revealing. Plus a lace top like the one I wore is very breezy which is great for a hot summer weather. I wore a navy bikini which matches the navy stripes on my bottoms.

I brought some makeup with me to the beach for touch ups. If you guys are a long time reader, you would know that I don't like to powder my face during the day. Plus my complexion has been going crazy lately so I especially do not want to pile powder over my face. But since we're at the beach, there will be sweating so to prevent myself  from turning into a sweaty girl with makeup melting off her face, I bring only the essentials to avoid any awkward situations.

6 items I brought with me are:

1. MAC mineralized skin finish in Medium (Click here for review). This makes the skin look amazing! The fine powder smooths out all the imperfections and makes the skin look flawless. The only downside is that it cannot control oil so top it off with blotting powder or translucent powder over areas where it gets oily.

2. Revlon translucent powder in 02. I LOVE this translucent powder. I'm almost all finished with this one and will definitely repurchase again. It does not make the face look cakey and similarly smooths out all flaws on the face. The result is a natural and matte skin.

3. Ecotools kabuki brush. The size makes it perfect to throw in a small makeup bag. I wish the brush was a bit denser so it gets more product in one go instead of going back to apply several times.

4. A pair of scissors for emergency situations for example tags on clothing, knotted laces etc.

5. LA Girl lipstick in Secret Admirer. One of my go-to lipsticks for all occasions. I like to wear brighter pinks in the summer.

6. Majolica Majorca liquid eyeliner in Black (Click here for review). This is already my second tube. It contains way more product than it looks, my first one lasted me for a year with almost daily usage! It does require some practice since the tip is very soft.

7. Urban Decay 24/7hr concealer in FBI (Click here for review). Best.Concealer.Ever! It is so easy to use, I just dab it on any blemish directly and blend it with my finger. Super easy to blend, very thick and pigmented. I bought it from ACW but they don't carry it anymore and I can't seem to find it in Sephora UD section. If you guys can find it online, I highly recommend you to try it!

That's all guys! Let me know you like to do on the beach or what is your must bring item in your summer makeup bag. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I'll see you in the next. Cheers!

Snips and bits #7 | Interesting buys

Read Article →
1. The Pandora bracelet was a gift from my friend. I did a blog post on it so (click here if you are interested in more closeups. I LOVE it! I have been wearing this literally every time I got out because it just matches all my outfits and it is a very subtle, simple and dainty piece. You can stack more bracelets on it or wear it alone as a touch of elegance.

2. I definitely cannot rave enough about this perfume. I'm pretty sure all of you are sick of me talking about the Eclat d'Arpege by LANVIN. I saw it at Mustafa at a much much cheaper price compared to departmental stores so you might want to check out the perfume section at Mustafa and maybe you can find a sweet deal!

3. I have been using the Tanda Zap religiously over the past few days ever since I got it. I must say that I am very impressed with the results! My forehead haven't been this smooth in a LONG time. I will write a detailed review once I've tested out the battery life etc. (Click here for review)

4. I've tried out some of the brushes I got from EcoTools. They aren't scratchy at all unlike my (UBU brushes) which were terribly disappointing. The eyeliner brush that came in the 6-piece set is a little too big for my tiny eyes but I like how quickly I was able to achieve a winged out eyeliner look which I usually go for everyday. (Click here for review)

That is all folks! Detailed reviews will be up very soon, and if you have not joined my ongoing SKII Facial Treatment Essence giveaway, please (click here) to join, there is only 5 days left! Cheers!
