How I apply False eyelashes [Strip + Individual]

How I apply False eyelashes [Strip + Individual]

Hey guys! Today’s post is going to be all about false eyelashes and it is requested by Katina. I was hesitant to do a fake eyelashes post because firstly, I don’t use fake eyelashes on a daily basis, I kind of have a love hate relationship with them and secondly, there are already tones of false eyelashes tutorials out there by Gurus & professionals. But I'll do my best and let you guys know what I think of them! :)

I do not have a big collection of eyelashes so below are the few types of eyelashes that I own. As you can see from the pictures, I really only use straight eyelashes compared to criss-cross eyelashes. I do not know why, I guess I like my eyelashes well defined. I usually buy false eyelashes in multiple packs unless they are too expensive.

A/N: Blogger is being a pain in the butt so sorry for the uneven spaces, no pics are missing I've checked!

Pros & Cons of Individual and Strip False Eyelashes:

The reason why I prefer individual false eyelashes to strip eyelashes is because they look so much more natural. With proper techniques, they can look as if they are really growing out of your eyelids. I also find that they last much longer, normal strip eyelashes fall out at the corners during the middle of the day (due to my oily lids) but indiv lashes stays on all day. And that saves me from embarrassment because I don’t have to worry about the ends sticking out during an important situation.

However, applying individual eyelashes takes a much longer time and requires so much more effort which is the main reason why most people prefer using strip lashes. Because individual lashes come in a knot of 8-10 strands of lashes, I find myself using at least 6 to 8 knots per eye which is pretty time consuming. On the other hand strip lashes are very quick and easy to apply, but for me the strands of eyelashes tend to stick out at weird and unflattering angles and I’m sure I am not the only one facing this problem.

For individual eyelashes, you definitely need practice. I failed in the beginning because I was too anxious and ended up creating a huge mess. Sadly there is no shortcut in applying them except to keep trying with patience. The left eye will take more time because it is hard to maneuver the angle of the tweezers to the ideal spot so do whatever that floats your boat.

This is how I apply my fake eyelashes, this may not be the most appropriate way but this is the way that best works for me.

How I apply Individual Lashes

1)      Prepare your glue 5 minutes beforehand using whichever glue of preference
2)      Use a pair of tweezers to grab and pull a knot of lashes out of the packaging. Hold the tweezers like this to prevent creating a kink in the lashes.
3)      Dip the ends of the knot into the glue prepared beforehand
4)      Wipe off any excess glue
5)      Slot lash into any empty spaces between lashes

 I use the Dark version

Tweezers

A tiny bit will do

Grab lashes at base and pull to extract

Tadaaa!

Dip end of knot into glue

Wipe off any excess

Notice the gaps? Insert Indiv lashes into gaps

End result

How I apply Strip False Eyelashes
1)      Peel Strip false eyelashes off packaging
2)      Apply glue concentrating on the outer ends
3)      Wait till glue is tacky
4)      Lay strip on middle portion of the eye then align the outer end and inner end as close to lash line as possible.

Trim to the length of eye

Apply glue concentrating on ends

Apply closest to lash line

Kiss Me Heroine Make Impact Eyelash 03 without any eye makeup

This time with Daiso Lashes(03) without any eye makeup

Whoops there are left over glue all over my eye

I tend to apply falsies further from the inner corners
because they always prick me and I have very watery eyes
so the glue loses adhesion faster.

Semi permanent lash extensions

There are also semi permanent eyelash extensions by using Ardell Lashtite glue which is said to make lashes last for as long at 3 weeks. I will definitely try them out once I get enough practice and feel confident of not messing it up.

I hope I gave you guys some useful information of how I apply my false eyelashes. Sorry this is such a late post! Please feel free to provide suggestions/feedback or questions down in the comments section below or email me at ar_enquiry@hotmail.com I will be sure to get back to you ASAP. So tell me what are your favourite lashes?

  1. THANKS so much!!!!

After you remove your eye make-up, do you throw away the used lashes or can you recycle?

    1. @Katina

Sorry for the late reply! For individual lashes I do recycle once or twice if they are in good shape. I usually soak them in makeup remover and scrap off any leftover glue. Sometimes some lashes tend to stick together due to the glue and if I find them too troublesome to clean, I just dispose them.

For strip lashes, I do always reuse them at least 3-5 times. I find that those with a harder band are usually more durable and does not crumble that easily whereas those with thin band (e.g Ardell lashes) tend to get damage more easily. If they are in a fairly good condition, I do reuse them. :D

I hope that answers your question! Thanks for reading!
