1)      Why are double eyelids such a big thing in Asia?
You might have heard of it that in Asia, beauty is a huge thing. And that is pretty much true. Many Asians especially the Chinese, Koreans and Japanese have monolids and I have them too. What we have with monolids is that they make your eyes look really droopy and unfriendly. When you apply eyeliner it smudges everywhere and when you smile your eyes disappear. I was actually influenced by my friend who taught me how to use it, and I was instantly hooked. If you are interested to kinda change how your eyes look then feel free to try it out.

2)      Is double eyelid tape safe?
These double eyelid tapes are definitely safe as long as the basic sanitary procedure is followed. In my opinion as long as you change the tapes every day, prevent from scratching your eyes, trim the tips so the tapes are not poking or irritating your eyes and if you experience rashes/ itchiness, just let your eyelids breathe by not using it for the rest of the day.

3)      Will double eyelid stay permanent?
Yes and no. I’ve seen other girls who wore double eyelid tapes for a year and their eyelids became permanent. I have been wearing them for around 3 years and I still do not have permanent double eyelids. However, I do not have to wear them during the day. I only wear them during the night because my eyes are closed for long hours and when I wake up, my eyelids ‘forgets’ the folding and they become monolid again. But yes there are girls who got their eyelids permanent after using these tapes.

4)      Are there certain eyelids that will take longer to get permanent?
Girls with eyelids that already have a slight fold on them will get their double eyelids permanent faster. Because their eyelids do not have enough support to create a deeper fold, using the tapes as a support and help deepen the barely there fold. Girls like me who has an entire clean canvas to work on will naturally take a longer time. People who have thin eyelids will also achieve permanent double eyelids faster than people who have thicker eyelids. Thicker eyelids tend to not ‘remember’ the line or fold very well. I have thin eyelids therefore my eyelids are now semi-permanent.

5)      Can I still change my fold or am I stuck with my current fold forever?
With double eyelid stickers, any fold, whether natural or achieved by using tapes can ‘edit’ their folds. Just apply double eyelid tape to your ideal crease and when the line gets used to the line, it will stay there. With these tapes, you can change your fold anytime.

6)      Will double eyelid tapes cause wrinkles?
I do think double eyelid tape will cause premature wrinkles if you remove it too harshly. I always wet the tapes with water because water makes the tape lose adhesion immediately, before gently peeling it. If you are using double eyelid glue, use some makeup remover or water to loosen the adhesion.

7)      Can I reuse the tapes?
My friend and I did it before by using the same tape for 2 days (I did not remove it for 2 days) so I’m very sure what is going to happen! I know the tapes aren’t cheap but it is really unhygienic to reuse them. The oils from the eyelid will make the tape super sticky and goopy after a day of usage and give your eyelid rashes. I’ve tried it many times and on the second day, there are always rashes so I do not recommend reusing them.

This is the end of the very long post! I hope you do gain some insights with the different double eyelid tapes and their application. I also hope that I have answered some of your question regarding usage of these tapes. Please take note that I am not encouraging people to use them but just giving my 2 cents on them and if you do have any other questions please feel free to ask me in the comments below or email me. I will get back as soon as possible.

As always thank you for reading my blog! Have a beautiful day ahead!

  1. Hi I'm actually curious as to what are the chances of developing saggy/droopy eyelids during and after long term use of double eyelid tapes? Or is it an exaggerated myth for the most part? I actually already have a slight crease which is sometimes prominent above my lazy eye (it used to be a double lid when I was younger) and is it actually possible to suffer from Ptosis due to constant usage of such products? :O Do you think that I can achieve a permanent crease with the help of the tape since there tends to be a slight crease already? Thanks in advance!

  2. Hello Joneill! Welcome to my blog!

I did not notice any sagging or drooping of my eyelids and I can't say I take perfect care of my eyes. I can see where the saying is coming from and how it can actually happen but I think if you tug or pull your eyelids frequently you are bound to stretch your eyelids out whether you apply double eyelid tapes or not. So to prevent them, just minimize tugging the skin harshly and there will not be any chances of sagging.

Okay I actually had to google what Ptosis is but oh my gosh, I do not think that applying Double eyelid tapes will cause any Ptosis from developing. From what I see from the pictures online, Ptosis is more of a muscle dysfunctional syndrome and I'm no doctor but I do not think that any constant use of the product will cause such a severe illness.

And yes, if you already have a slight crease, your possibility of attaining permanent double eyelids is higher and the process is much quicker too.

Hope I answered your questions :) Have a nice day!

    1. Thank you so much for the quick reply! <3

Basically, I just have to avoid unnecessary stretching when applying and removing the tape, is that it? ^^ Hopefully I can minimise the pulling force when doing so haha! *crosses fingers* Thanks!

It actually bugged me because a LOT of people have posted about this 'issue' but I for one, am unable to find 'prove' of their eyelids drooping (or the formation of premature wrinkles) =/ Could it be mere self-consciousness?

As for Ptosis, I know it was sort of ridiculous but I just could not help refrain from asking so xD (This is the result of reading forum posts late at night lol) Thanks for the reassurance!

Oh that makes me so happy! Thank you so much! I really do hope I can achieve permanent double eyelids! >< There are times when either eye (and sometimes both) has the extra lid which lasts for a few hours or until I wash my face and start rubbing all over haha. Even now, upon closer inspection, there are faint creases over each eye. Do you really think my case is a hopeful one? :D Thank you for your time and patience really!

P/S: I love your latest post btw. I'm sure you'll look really good in those dresses. Gosh, sometimes I wish I know how to shop for goodies online safely. Hehe <3

    2. Hello Joneill!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I had loads of fun doing it as well. I hope you gained some good info from it and do not hesitate to post more questions, I think others can benefit from it too. And yes, if you already have a slight fold, it is easier to achieve double eyelids compared to people who have fatter ones. But it really depends on the individual's eyelids & techniques as well. Thank you always for reading my blog :)
