Review for Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Hey guys! Today’s review will be on the highly raved by almost everyone on the planet Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. I got this from Luxola, using my $10 store credit when I first signed up, so the total amount I paid was $23 (original price is $33).

The product has a unique way of using it. Firstly, do not shake the solution. You need to wait for the solution to settle and separate (around 10-15 minutes) then apply the paste to get the optimum effect. Direction: Dip a cotton swab into the pink sediment and dab on the pimple. Let it dry and wash off the next morning.

It is a pink opaque paste so I encourage only using it at night or on days where you do not need to leave the house. Or if sporting pink spots on your face is your thing then…

Pros:

I really like this product, therefore this review is going to be a positive one. This solution promises to dry out the zit in 24 hours and I do see significant results. I usually get these painful huge ass zits on my chin and nowadays on my forehead and after using it my pimple is notably less inflamed and the size is reduced. Sometimes my zit gets so small, it stops getting painful!

It leaves a minty cooling sensation when applied and the solution does sting a little if your pimple is an open wound. You only need a dab of this, so the entire bottle was probably take months to finish! It contains 29ml of product.
.

Cons:

Do note that the drying lotion is very drying (it contains alcohol), so you are bound to get flaky skin around the area where you applied the solution. If you have very dry or sensitive skin, you might want to skip days because it is very harsh.

The texture of the drying lotion is very similar to calamine lotion (it does contain calamine) and Proactiv’s Refining Mask. It has a clay consistency that dries within minutes. Do note that this drying lotion, in particular, is very hard to wash off. Therefore I do not recommend using large quantities of it on one spot because it grabs on tightly to the skin.

Let me warn you guys first. This product is pungent. Despite the smell being so strong, it does not smell bad as in stinky. It has a chemical, herbal smell and for those who are sensitive to scent, you might want to test it out first.

I do like the design of the product; it looks very exquisite and old school. What I don’t like about it is that the bottle is made out of glass, which means that you have to be extra careful when handling it because the glass can break. It also makes travelling with it almost impossible.

.

Yadda Yadda:

If you are looking for a pimple acne treatment and everything you have tried is not working, I highly recommend trying this out. I do see significant results and think that it is worth every buck.

I paid $23 for this product.

Will I repurchase? Yes. I do see the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion becoming a staple in my skincare bag.

Packaging: 3/5 (not the most user-friendly)
Price: 4/5
Effectiveness: 5/5 (It works!)
Overall rating: 4/5

Review for Dr Jart’s Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream

Hey guys! Today’s review will be on Dr Jart’s Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream. I bought it LONG time ago after seeing StyleSuzi on youtube raving about this BB cream. What is special about this BB Cream is that it promises to detoxify the skin (hence the name) and reduce blemishes. That was what sold me on this. I had really bad skin problems previously and I thought that this will HG product.

You guys know I swear by my Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream, I use it almost every day, sometimes I give my skin a little break because using it every day seems to be clogging my pores badly.

Previously I didn’t quite like it because it was quite dry for my skin then when I was undergoing Proactive skincare regime. I’ve stopped using Proactiv completely and these days I’m just using my Cetaphil Cleanser and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel.

Pros:

The coverage to me is a medium. The consistency is noticeably thicker than the Skin79 BB Cream and I find that my flaws are more smoothed out. Spots and blemishes are definitely less obvious.

It does come in a nice squeeze tube. I really like to packaging, it does not leave fingerprints and deposits just the right amount.

Oil control is moderately good. I find it to be on par with my Skin79 BB Cream. I find myself becoming oily after 3-4 hours after application around the T Zone where I usually get oily.  I get oilier faster if I get stressed and I usually fix it with a tissue or blotting paper.

The lasting power is pretty good, it lasts all day, I do set it with translucent powder and it does transfer a little bit when the skin gets oily.

Cons:

I didn’t find that it cleared up my skin. It did make it look smoother but after I remove my face makeup, I don’t really see a significant difference even after using it for two weeks.

Since the Dr Jart Black Label Detox Healing BB Cream’s consistency is thicker than the Skin79BB Cream, it does feel thicker on but the skin is still able to breathe through. But for people who prefer a more light weight tinted moisturizer kind of deal, this may not be the one for you. Since it is a bit thick, I find blending to be harder because I have to tug more on the face.

Yadda Yadda:

If you require or like heavier coverage BB Creams, you may want to check the Dr Jart Black Label Detox BB Cream out. If you want to achieve a more lightweight, natural look, there are better options out there. I paid SGD$29 for a tube at Watsons. Will I repurchase? Probably not, I’ll like to try out other BB Creams as well.

Price: 3.5
Packaging: 4.5
Lasting Power: 4.5
Overall effectiveness: 4/5
