Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Read Article →
So I finally got my hands on the highly raved Urban Decay Naked Basics palette around 2 weeks ago. This palette has been one of the top must buy eyeshadow palettes ever since it launched and I was excited to try it out. I am also contemplating on getting Naked 2, just so I can do more comparisons between the 2 palettes.

A quick rundown of the shades:
Venus: A shimmery neutral highlighter shade. Great for browbone or the inner corners of the eyes.
Foxy: Yellow toned pale beige shade. Very close to my skin colour. Can be used as a matte highlighter (for darker skin tones) or an allover eyelid shade.
Walk Of Shame: Pinkish beige neutral shade. Also a very nice allover eyelid shade
Naked 2: A dirty taupe. I use this as a transition colour from the light to medium shades.
Faint: A true matte black. Great as eyeliner or in the outer crease to deepen intensity.

Pros:
The colours are more dynamic and versatile than you think, only using 1 palette you can create many neutral eye looks. The Naked Basics have very basic, classic shades, majority being matte, so this is a necessity palette in my opinion for any girl. With this palette you can achieve everyday neutral eyeshadow look to smokey night out look. The colours are all gorgeous, smooth and pigmented, nothing less in what I expected from UD.

I don't see a ton of matte eyeshadow palettes in the market, and I am a big fan of anything matte. I feel that matte eyeshadow looks are softer, more natural and subtle compared to shimmer eyeshadows. Which is perfect for me who isn't a huge eyeshadow person. This palette is a nice expansion to my eyeshadow collection.

The Naked Basics palette retails for S$40 at Sephora outlets. S$40 for six Urban Decay eyeshadows is quite worth it and the awesome compact packaging totally worth every buck. And the size is no bigger than my iPhone 5, extremely travel friendly.

Cons:
The most major concern is that there are fall outs, so be careful when applying darker shades. Also, if you are not a fan of wearing neutral eye shadows, you may not love this palette as much as you hope to. If you like shimmery eyeshadows, this may not be the palette for you. But that being said, I still think that the Naked Basics is a nice palette to have.

For girls with a large eyeshadow collection, you can consider skipping this palette as you may already have similar/identical neutral shades. Also if you have a darker skin tone, try swatching it on back of the hands before purchasing because I find that some of these shadows, especially Foxy and W.O.S are on the lighter side and may not show up.

Yadda Yadda:
Will I repurchase? Yes, I definitely will. The Naked Basics is the ultimate one-stop neutral eyeshadow palette that every girl should get and I feel that it is worth the splurge.

Price: 4/5
Packaging: 5/5
Quality: 5/5
Overall rating: 5/5

Best Beauty Products of 2011

Read Article →

Hey guys! Today I’m going to be doing the best beauty products of the year which everybody in the beauty blogosphere are doing so I’m joining in the fun too. I do have a lot of favourites this year from all categories therefore I’ll try to make it short and sweet with lots of pictures. These products have entered my Holy Grail list which I almost use it every day now and I highly recommend everyone to try it out.

I’ve linked the titles directly to the specific review so do not hesitate to click on them to read the entire review. Detailed information such as their price, where I got them, pros & cons of the item are all written there.

I’m pretty sure this was one of my latest reviewed product. I have been using it almost every day since I got it. For girls whose hair turns greasy easily, this is the product for you. The powder is very fine and it soaks up all the oils. The hair looks significantly less oily and they are very affordable. Highly recommend it!

Avene Thermal Spring Water

I can’t believe I haven’t done a post on this yet. I’ve been using it for months now and I really love it. I have tried other brands of thermal water such as the Vichy and La Roche Posay ones. To be honest, I like the Avene one above all. I find myself reaching out to it more often and I really like how it makes my skin feel refreshed and plumped. It’s like I had my mask on for 20 minutes but the effects are instant. Love it!

You guys already know I’m a lazy person and this liquid eyeliner is a no hassle, twist-and-draw kind of product. It stays for good amount of time and it is very opaque. I find myself reaching this more than my MAC black track fluidline. They are often on sale, so at SGD$12-16, I do find them affordable. Most of Majolica Majorca products that I bought did not disappoint me so I’ll sure be purchasing more products from their brand.

This is still the only mascara I use and swear by. This mascara is great for holding up curls and lengthening. It defines every lash and the fibres add to the length of the natural lashes. The formula is very opaque black and extremely water resistant. It does not smudge under my eyes at all. The only downside is that it does not volumize the lashes and the removal of this mascara is always a pain in the butt.

MAC Dame Satin Powder Blush

I love this blush so much! Dame is an everyday colour and matches with every makeup or clothes I’m wearing. I would consider it a straight up pink that is warmer and more pigmented than Well-dressed. It just gives my face a natural pink flush that looks really adorable especially for fairer skin tones. MAC blushes are very pigmented so do use a light hand. I highly recommend this colour if you looking for an everyday shade to wear.

I know this sounds stupid but I really do not know if the brand is Bifesta or Mandom. I think they rebranded the original brand Mandom to Bifesta, but I’m really not sure. If you guys know what exact name it is, do tell me because I’m getting so confused with all the names. In my opinion, I think it removes makeup like a dream, easy to use, cheap, readily available and it does not break me out. I gone through bottles and bottles of them, it is crazy.

If you have lost all hopes in Acne treatment creams, try this out. At only 4 bucks, you have nothing to lose. This product is cheap and works pretty well compared to other pimple creams such as Clinique or Clearasil that cost more and stings the wound. I don’t find my pimples disappearing after 1 night but I do reach for this pimple cream a lot. The texture is very similar to Proactiv’s Refining Mask which has a clay-like texture. I use the Acne Clear pimple cream at night because most of my pimples form during my sleep. Sneaky zits!

In the 2011 I dyed my hair jet black and urgently needed a grey or taupe eyebrow pencil. I stopped dying my hair because my hair was noticeably dry, frizzy and my hair fell out more easily. I only had brown eyebrow pencils, eyebrow powder then, so I was on a mission to find my ideal taupe eyebrow pencil. I have been using this eyebrow pencil the entire year. It works great and the colour fits my criteria exactly. You do need to use a light hand when using this though. It is very affordable and travel friendly.

If you have redness or scars to cover, try the Urban decay concealer pencil out! It blends like a dream and is so much creamier than thick concealers such as the MAC studio finish concealer. The formula looks extremely natural and covers blemishes really well. I find such concealers prone to caking on blemishes due to the thick consistency but with this concealer, the dryness is not very noticeable.

That’s all of my favourites for the year of 2011 and I do hope more to come by this year! Hope you all have a great weekend ahead!

Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer pencil

Review for Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer pencil in FBI

Hey guys today i’ll be reviewing the Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil that was featured in my previous makeup haul. For those who are curious where I got mine, I ordered the concealer from Allcosmeticswholesale.com, which sells a wide variety of cosmetics from many different brands at discounted prices. The Urban decay 24/7 concealer was one of the items and it cost only USD$11.99 on the site instead of the regular price of USD$18.00. It costs around SGD$28.00 in Singpaore Sephora outlets.

I got mine in the shade FBI. For reference I’m a shade NC25 in MAC and FBI fits me perfectly. I roughly gauged the colour match through online swatches and reviews and reading other’s colour match really does help for me.

  Description:

 Ingredients:

Swatch:

Pros:

The concealer comes in a pencil form and although you do need sharpening, it is so super convenient to use. I do own liquid concealers such as the ZA liquid concealer in the squeeze tube and cream concealers such as MAC’s studio finish concealer and I find them to be more troublesome in usage. It skips a step as I can just apply the pencil directly onto the blemish. If you are a really hygienic person, who I am obviously not, you may not want to directly touch the concealer with the active zit as bacteria may transfer onto the clean product. I’m mostly concealing redness and scars so it isn’t a big hygiene problem to me.

The texture is phenomenal, before I got the product I was afraid of it being too hard or dry but really, the concealer is very creamy and super blend-able. The lasting power of the concealer is pretty awesome. It lasted a good 6-8 hours on me but do take in mind that I have combination skin. I find the coverage to be a good medium. If the texture is too dry for your preference, try using heat (such as hairdryer) to warm it up to make it easier to blend.

I did try using it on my dark eye circles, and although I find it a little drying for the undereye area, it did quite a good job. But if your under eye area is really dry, you may experience flaking since it is a pretty dry formula. I still recommend using a liquid concealer as it does not emphasize fine line or flaking occurring on the under eye area.

I do think that it is a decent size, great for size for travelling and I do feel that the pencil will last quite a long time. I’ve been using it daily for around 2 to 3 weeks and it didn’t break me out which is awesome.

Cons:

Similar to other pencil products, the cap might scrape the product if you are in a hurry because the concealer is not retractable at all.

This concealer pencil does require sharpening but I don’t really find it a hassle because you really only need a bit at a time. I’ve used it for around 2 – 3 weeks now and I only made a small dent into the tip of the concealer.

A normal sharpener will not be able to sharpen this concealer pencil which in my opinion is the biggest disadvantage of using it. I have to purchase an additional sharpener with a bigger opening that fits the concealer. If you do already have a larger sharpener such as the NYX sharpener for their jumbo pencils, there will not be such a problem.

The first or second time I used it. The tip of the concealer pencil fell out! I was so super disappointed because I didn’t even put any pressure when concealing. Luckily I caught it in time and kinda squeezed it back in. I don’t know the reason why the tip fell off, I didn’t see any reviews talking about the fragile tip so just my luck I guess.

Yadda Yadda:

I bought the Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer pencil for USD$11.99 which is below SGD$20 approximately. Will I repurchase? Yes. It is super convenient and I do like the creamy consistency. I recommend it especially for girls like me who are on the lazier side, definitely a hassle-free product. Very value for money, I’m sure this product will last me a good period of time. What is your favourite concealer? Do recommend it to me!

Haul! Urban Decay, Loreal, Batiste, Acne Clear

Read Article →
Happy new year guys! I hope all of you reading this post a great year ahead and accomplish great achievements and most importantly, growing more and more beautiful on the outside and inside every single day to come. Today is the first day 2012 so I’m back for another cosmetics and skincare haul. This time there isn’t a lot of stuff because as stated in my previous fashion haul, I’m really cutting down on my monthly expenses so I really have to make do with whatever I can. This month there are sadly only four items I have to share so let’s get right into it!

Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil

I bought this item online at Allwholesalecosmetics and I do really love it. I have done my review of it and I’ll post it up sometime within the week so please look out for that. It is from the 24/7 line of Urban Decay and although the 24/7 pencil eyeliners weren’t that well received, I thought I would just try the concealer out. It is very high quality and I highly recommend you guys to try it out especially since concealer pencils are pretty uncommon.

Loreal Wear Infinite Shadow Duo in Mocha Buff

This shadow duo is the perfect combination if you are looking for a neutral, wearable, daily eyeshadow shade. I use this duo for a cut crease look. The eyeshadow duo comes with a shimmery beige overall eyelid shade and also a darker matte taupe-y brown shadow. Very lovely!

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original

I’ve already posted a review on it because I love it so much and could not wait to review it for you guys. I'll link it right here for you guys to check it out! It is really a great helper for girls who suffer from greasy hair. Highly recommend it!

Acne Clear Pimple Treatment Solution

I did a review for Acne Clear Pimple Cream some time ago so I was pretty excited to see the solution version of it. The pimple solution is very affordable and comes in a pretty large glass bottle. I haven’t tried it yet but will do a review on it sometime later after I’ve used it.

That's all! Happy new year again! Be safe, healthy and enjoy every single moment together with your loved ones! I'll end this off with some adorable dried instant noodle garnish!
