Review for Revlon Matte Luxurious Color Kohl Eyeliner 02 Rich Mink & 04 Pure White

I went to Mustafa recently and got a few products on sale at the Cosmetic section, the makeup products I got were Revlon Matte Luxurious Color Kohl Eyeliner and I got it in 2 colours- 02 Rich Mink and 04 Pure White. They were on a crazy sale at 1 for SGD$15.90 and 2 for SGD$12.00!! I was like ‘ZOMG! Are you kidding me?!’ Such a great deal! I grabbed both Rich Mink and Pure White.

Revlon Matte Kohl Eyeliner is a dual ended kohl pencil liner with smooth, rich fluid colour that glides on smoothly and evenly. The versatile formula allows for multiple eye looks. Available in five shades: Very Violet (purple), Midnight Blue (dark blue), Rich Mink (dark brown), Black Truffle (Black) and Pure White (white). Rich Mink is a matte dark brown eyeliner and Pure White is a matte white eyeliner.

Pros:

The pencil eyeliners are matte which is pretty awesome considering the amount of shimmery eyeliners pencils on the market. I’ve been finding a matte white eyeliner since forever! They go on pretty smoothly, no tugging of eyelids required. The texture and formula is very creamy. There is a Styrofoam/rubber end for smudging purposes but I don’t really use it, I consider that as a plus. These eyeliner pencils are great if you want to achieve thin smooth lines and can be used on the waterline as they glide on really well.

Cons:

I have extremely oily upper lids and watery eyes. The pencil eyeliner faded around 2-3 hours upon applying and after 5-6 hours it vanishes (LOL). These pencil eyeliners are a BITCH to unwrap! I think I spent a whole 10 minutes trying to rip off all the layers of plastic seals.

I will not recommend this product for peeps with oily and watery lids as smudging will probably occur throughout the day. A common tip is to layer eyeshadow of a similar shade over the pencil eyeliner so the powder absorbs the oil from the lids before reaching the eyeliner.

Yadda Yadda:

I am not sure how much it retails for but I got it at Mustafa during a sale for SGD$6.00 each (original price at Mustafa is SGD$15.90). Net Weight 0.035 oz. Rating: 3.5/5 stars. Will I repurchase? Probably not for the original price, I will find a cheaper/ better alternative. Have you guys tried it? What are your thoughts?

Review for Loreal HIP Bright Shadow Duo in 864 Bustling

I got the Loreal Hip eyeshadow duo at Mustafa together with Revlon Matte Luxurious Color Kohl Eyeliner. I got it in the colour 864 Bustling. I was pretty surprised to see the Loreal HIP line at the cosmetic section of Mustafa because I think Watsons and Guardian do not carry them anymore. I’ve heard really good reviews on the Duo shadows and wanted to get my hands on them. I wanted the colour 828 Dynamic but they do not have it and 864 Bustling was a very similar shade. It was on clearance for half price- originally SGD$19.90, on sale for SGD$9.90. I’m a sucker for makeup on sale so I had to have it.

864 Bustling contains 2 eyeshadow shades- a golden mustard colour with gold shimmer and a dark brownish- taupe shade with slight gold shimmer. From my untrained eyes both contains the same gold shimmer just that the dark brown shade contains less shimmer. Both are shimmery eyeshadows so matte eyeshadow lovers are warned. Bottom opens up to a sponge tip applicator.

Pros:

The gold mustard shade is such a beautiful colour! Extremely vibrant and bright, opens up the eyes and makes it look like fresh and awake. Both shades are very pigmented. I haven’t experience much creasing throughout the day although I have oily lids. The lasting power is okay, I do not use a eyeshadow primer and the colour lasted a good 5-6 hours before fading significantly. This is a great addition to my makeup collection. Complements my dark eyes very well.

Cons:

The dark brown shade was kind of common- the usual brown. I was hoping for it to have a little greyer undertone than red undertone but the red undertone is not overwhelming at all. Container feels like cheap, light plastic but it is fine with me just that it can get a little hard to open the container lid. Maybe I got a defective eyeshadow, can’t really complain for the price.

Yadda Yadda:

Available at Mustafa for S$19.90. I paid S$9.90 for the eyeshadow for 2.4g/0.08 oz of product. Ratings: 4.5/5 Stars. (0.5  subtracted due to packaging). Will I repurchase? It will probably last a long time but I will repurchase after finishing. It was a good buy. I recommend you guys to check it out! Do comment me your thoughts!

A/N: (update) i went to Watson and Guardian to check if they still carry the HIP line and no they don't! So if you guys can't  find the Loreal HIP line anywhere in Singapore, head over to Mustafa! They may still carry the line. Have fun!

Review for Canmake Shading Powder in 01

I’ve decided to do a review on Canmake’s Shading Powder in 01. I bought it quite long ago, about 3 months ago? For those who are not familiar with Canmake, it is a Japanese brand that is available in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore. I bought it after watching Stylesuzi’s video about contouring in which she used the same shading powder. It looked so amazing on her I told myself I have to get it the next day! I use the shading powder for contouring my face, nose and use it as an eyeshadow.

Pros:

The shading powder is not too dark for my fair skin which happens to a lot of contouring powders and bronzers. It can double up as an eyeshadow which I really like to do on days when I don’t want to wear eyeshadows yet have slight depth in my eyelids. Lasting power is around 4-5 hours. It comes with a small brush which I don’t use. The powder is matte, absolutely no shimmer at all which is a huge plus since I dislike shimmers on my face. Plastic compact container is not flimsy, opens and locks really well. The shading powder applies on very smoothly, very blendable and buildable for a dense eyeshadow.

Cons:

This shading powder does fade over time (quite quickly actually), I was hoping it not to lose vibrancy that fast so I was quite disappointed. So do take note that the colour lightens in a short span of time. Has a very mild powdery scent which I think will not irritate the nose unless you are extremely sensitive to smell.

Yadda Yadda:

Canmake Shading Powder is available at Watsons, John Little, BHG and SaSa. I bought mine at Watsons for S$22.90 (approx). Will I repurchase? Probably not, if there are other better and cheaper alternatives. Ratings: 3.5/5 stars. There are sales at Watsons that has 20% discount for the shading powder so do try them and tell me your opinion!
